Color Grading Reel

I had my first introduction to serious color grading was when I shot the short film Ugly in 2009. That was my first time shooting with the RED One camera. That was THE camera to shoot with back then. It made a decent image, but it had a substantial digital back-end process in post.

The learning curve was pretty steep. It took me about 2 weeks to color the 7 minute short. Once I was finished and could see the “before and after” I was hooked. It was like magic. It’s what makes a movie look like a movie. I’ve been color grading ever since, and not just for my own projects. I’ve colored a few different feature films, about a dozen short films, and all kinds of commercial projects.
